Tameka Lester is an associate dean for student success and clinical professor at the Georgia State University College of Law. She teaches Basic Federal Tax, Tax Policy, and clinical courses, while actively engaging with organizations like the Herzing University Legal Studies Program Advisory Board, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Advisory Board, and the American Bar Association Taxation Committee.

Her research focuses on taxation, taxpayer rights, and the intersection of tax policy with marginalized communities. She has published extensively in outlets like The ABA Tax Times, The Conversation, and Procedurally Taxing, often addressing IRS procedures, tax compliance, and advocacy strategies.
Tameka’s publications include book chapters on representing clients before the IRS (2021), peer-reviewed articles on tax collection challenges (2019), and popular press pieces offering guidance on tax debt (2016–2018). Her work emphasizes practical tax solutions and equity in tax administration.
She served as an expert witness for Congressman John Lewis in a 2017 hearing on IRS taxpayer experience and frequently speaks nationally about tax policy’s impact on underserved populations.
