Dr. Tamas Nagy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine. He holds a DVM from the University of Veterinary Science in Budapest, Hungary, and a PhD from Cornell University. His research focuses on mammary carcinogenesis using genetically engineered mice and collaborative projects in infectious diseases, chemotherapy, and drug delivery. He leads the Comparative Pathology Laboratory, providing pathology services for biomedical research. Dr. Nagy's work includes studies on focal adhesion kinase (FAK) in mammary gland development and tumorigenesis, as well as immunopathogenesis of malaria in pregnancy and influenza in mice/ferrets.
His research has been funded by NIH grants, including projects on malaria-induced pregnancy failure and influenza pathogenesis. He teaches courses on laboratory animal pathology and genetically engineered mice. Key collaborations involve malaria immunology, tuberculosis drug delivery, and novel pain management strategies.
Dr. Nagy has published extensively in journals like J. Biol. Chem., Cancer Res., and Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci.. His recent work explores antiviral treatments, antimicrobial hydrogels, and dietary effects on metabolic disorders in animal models.
