William D. Branch is the Georgia Seed Development Professor in Peanut Breeding and Genetics at the University of Georgia's College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences and Department of Crop & Soil Sciences. He has been a key figure in the Institute of Plant Breeding, Genetics and Genomics (IPBGG) since 1978, focusing on developing peanut varieties resistant to diseases like tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) while improving yield, shelling characteristics, and nutritional value.
