Tamara Davis serves as the Eleanor A. Bliss Professor of Biology and Director of the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology program at Bryn Mawr College.
Her educational background includes a B.A. from the University of California at San Diego, a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley, and postdoctoral work at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Davis specializes in genomic imprinting research, investigating how epigenetic mechanisms like DNA methylation regulate parent-of-origin-specific gene expression in mammals. Her lab employs mouse models to analyze methylation pattern acquisition and maintenance during developmental stages, with particular focus on stable versus variable epigenetic regulation across genomic regions.
She actively mentors undergraduate researchers through hands-on laboratory work, directing projects that bridge molecular genetics and developmental epigenetics.
Her research team operates from Park 222A at Bryn Mawr College, maintaining close collaboration between faculty and student researchers in the investigation of fundamental epigenetic phenomena.
