Tamara Clegg is an Affiliate Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, holding a joint appointment in the College of Information Studies and the College of Education. She earned her PhD in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2010 and a BS in Computer Science from North Carolina State University in 2002. Her research focuses on developing technology-enhanced learning experiences that connect science inquiry to community goals, leveraging participatory design principles.
Her current projects include Science Everywhere (a social media platform for science engagement), BodyVis (wearables for anatomy visualization), and NatureNet (community-driven environmental initiatives). Her work is supported by NSF, IMLS, and Google grants. Clegg’s research emphasizes ethics in child-centric technologies, data literacy in STEM, and equitable learning environments.
