Clegg's research explores objectification, bodily agency, and the absurdity of human-thing relationships. She employs materials like silicone, found objects, and kinetic elements to interrogate feminist imagery and theoretical frameworks. Recent works like Being (Chelsea) and Proliferation IV (Wet Turtleneck Fountain) merge humor with critical discourse on identity and materiality.
Selected scientific awards include the 2025 Summer Faculty Fellow, 2020 Elsie Choy Lee Scholar, 2018 Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellow, and 2020 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award.
Her artworks are archived in permanent collections at Yale University, The New York Public Library, and the University of Michigan. Clegg's exhibitions span the U.S., Japan, and virtual platforms, often co-curated or juried.
