Dr. Simone Ashby is an Assistant Professor in Communication and Cognition at Tilburg University, affiliated with the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences. Her work bridges ethnography, human-centered design, speech science, and computational linguistics to explore how technology can empower communities and transform data into meaningful media. She teaches courses such as Human Centered Design and Responsible UX Design, emphasizing ethical and inclusive practices.
Her research focuses on AI’s impact on artistic processes, speculative futures, and manifesto creation as a tool for collective visioning. Key projects include the Artistic Process Futures and AI initiative and the Futures of Europe collaboration. She has also explored AI ethics in creative contexts, such as the risks and opportunities of tools like ChatGPT.
