Tamara Butler

Tamara Butler is a Research Fellow at the National Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing Research at the Australian National University (ANU). She holds an honorary appointment at the University of Queensland and a PhD in Psychology from the same institution (2017). Her work focuses on improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations, particularly in cancer care and healthcare equity.

Her research interests include co-design methodologies in healthcare, gynecological cancer support for Indigenous women, fear of cancer recurrence, and cervical screening barriers. She employs qualitative approaches like thematic analysis to explore these topics.

Recent publications highlight strategies to enhance healthcare access for Indigenous communities and address disparities in cancer care. Current projects include a 2024–2028 initiative to improve gynecological cancer outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.
