معرفی
Tamara Browne is a Senior Lecturer in Health Ethics at Deakin University's School of Medicine and Adjunct Research Fellow at Charles Sturt University. A bioethicist and philosopher of medicine, she examines ethical issues in mental illness, reproductive technology, and gender, with particular focus on depression, non-medical sex selection, and feminist approaches to bioethics.
Her research investigates concepts of control, responsibility, and authenticity in depression through qualitative methodologies. She critically analyzes diagnostic frameworks and their ethical implications in works such as her book 'Depression and the Self: Meaning, Control and Authenticity'. Browne has published extensively on gender and reproduction ethics, arguing against sex selection and fetal sex disclosure.
Browne's publications demonstrate consistent engagement with feminist bioethics, mental health ethics, and reproductive justice. Recent work addresses pandemic ethics, artificial womb technology, and transgender healthcare policy, applying relational autonomy frameworks to clinical contexts.
She has received multiple teaching awards including a National Teaching Award and Vice-Chancellor's Award for student learning innovation. Her public scholarship appears in media outlets including The Guardian, ABC Radio, and The Conversation.
