Tamara Baker Taylor

Tamara Baker Taylor serves as Lecturer in the College Writing Program at Washington University in St. Louis. She teaches the "Writing Identity" course (L59 1504) examining how class, gender, race, sexuality, and social forces shape human identity through literary and critical analysis.

Her research spans multiple humanities disciplines:

• Romanticism and Modernist literature
• Gender Studies and Women's Texts
• Intersections of Science, Philosophy, and Religious Studies

Taylor's doctoral work "Species of the Sun's Making: Reading Light, Proust to Merrill" investigates transitory visual phenomena and how light dynamics shape subjectivity. She has presented research at academic conferences including the MMLA Convention (November 15, 2016) and James Merrill Symposium (October 25, 2015).

Originally from Idaho, she has resided in St. Louis since 2001 with her husband J.D. and their three children, maintaining active engagement in both academic and family life while teaching literature courses including Women's Texts and Introduction to Women and Gender Studies.
