Talinn Grigor is a Professor of Art and Architectural History at the University of California, Davis, specializing in 18th- to 20th-century architectural and art histories through postcolonial, race, feminist, and (post)colonial theories, focusing on Iran, Armenia, and Parsi India. She holds a Ph.D. from MIT, an M.S. from MIT, and a B.Arch. from the University of Southern California. She is affiliated with the Middle East South Asia Studies program and serves as Chief Co-editor of the Journal of the Society for Armenian Studies (2025–2028) and Field Editor for modern art and architecture in the Encyclopedia Iranica (2025–2028).
- Research Interests: Modern and contemporary global architecture, critical theory, race studies, feminist theory, and colonial/postcolonial dynamics.
- Awards: Saidi-Sirjani Book Award (2022), fellowships from the National Gallery of Art, Getty Research Institute, and multiple other institutions.
Her courses cover topics such as contemporary art, visual culture, architectural theory, and the politics of public art. Recent research explores Armenian women’s agency in Iranian modernity and the intersections of architecture with imperialism and identity.
Publications include award-winning books like The Persian Revival (2021) and Contemporary Iranian Art (2014), alongside numerous articles in leading journals like The Art Bulletin and Third Text.
