Takeshi Hayatsu serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Architecture and Landscape at Kingston School of Art, Kingston University, while also teaching MArch programs at Central Saint Martins and previously lecturing at Cambridge University and Chelsea College of Arts.
His academic qualifications include:
- BA from Musashino Art University, Tokyo
- AA Dipl from the Architectural Association, London
He maintains professional registration with ARB and RIBA. His research investigates craft methodologies, material innovation, and the synthesis of traditional Japanese construction with contemporary building techniques, emphasizing community-driven self-build projects and sustainable material practices.
Hayatsu founded his architectural practice in 2017, which executes public and private commissions through collaborations with arts organizations and community groups. Key exhibitions demonstrating his scholarly contributions include:
