Sam Brown is a University Teacher in Architecture at the School of Architecture and Landscape, University of Sheffield, serving as Live Projects Coordinator and Deputy Director of MArch Collaborative Practice. An ARB-registered Architect with extensive UK and international practice experience, he previously held Senior Architect and Associate roles in small practices and multi-disciplinary teams.
His educational background includes:

- MArch Architecture (RIBA Part 2)
- PGDip Professional Practice in Architecture (RIBA Part 3)
Brown's research centers on Community-Led Housing, Self-Build, and Environmental Technology in Architecture, informed by his accreditation as a Community Led Housing Adviser working with London and West Midlands enabling hubs. His work emphasizes architectural pedagogy and collaborative practice through the Pedagogy, Practice and Scholarship research group.
He leads the Live Projects programme across MArch and MA Architectural Design courses while co-directing the Collaborative Practice route to the MArch qualification. His teaching philosophy prioritizes experiential learning through travel, collaboration, and industry-based research projects for national bodies in community-led housing.
