Prof. Takashi Okamoto is a historian specializing in modern East Asian history, particularly focusing on China, Japan, and regional diplomatic relations. He currently holds a professorship at Waseda University's Faculty of Education and Integrated Arts and Sciences, following roles at Kyoto Prefectural University and the University of Miyazaki. His work explores themes such as sovereignty, tribute systems, and international relations in 19th-20th century East Asia.
