Taimur Ahmed

Dr. Taimur Ahmed is a Research Fellow in Optoelectronics at the School of Engineering, RMIT University. His research focuses on low-dimensional materials, neuromorphic devices, and optoelectronic applications. He has extensive experience in developing novel materials like 2D semiconductors (MoS2, black phosphorus) and their integration into advanced devices such as biosensors, photodetectors, and neuromorphic systems. Dr. Ahmed has supervised 3 completed and 3 ongoing PhD projects, specializing in resistive memories, micro/nano electronics, and material characterization.

His work bridges fundamental material science with applied technologies, addressing challenges in antimicrobial nanomaterials, energy-efficient computing, and biomedical sensors. Key contributions include defect-engineered 2D materials for tunable electronic properties and light-controlled neuromorphic devices.
