Dr. Tahmina Yasmin is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham's School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. She is affiliated with the Centre for Environmental Research and Justice (CERJ) and the Birmingham Institute for Sustainability and Climate Action (BISCA). Her work focuses on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of society and environment, with expertise in sustainable transitions, environmental governance, and global South development.
Education & Experience:
- PhD in Geography
- Former fellowships with Leverhulme Trust, NERC, and Institute for Global Innovation
- Five+ years as a frontline development worker with Oxfam and Red Cross, specializing in disaster management
Research Interests:
Her research explores human-environment interactions, urban geography, water governance, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and climate adaptation. Key themes include resilience thinking, stakeholder engagement, and policy frameworks in developing regions.
Teaching:
She contributes to third-year and Masters' modules such as Environmental Geopolitics, Urban Environments in the Global South, and Geopolitics and Globalization.
Collaborations & Grants:
- Active collaborations in Bangladesh and India with academic and NGO partners
