Taeko Becque is a Senior Clinical Trials Statistician at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Primary Care Research Centre. She specialises in applying statistical expertise to randomised trials and observational studies in primary care, collaborating with GPs and health researchers. Her work focuses on improving clinical practice through evidence-based interventions, including antibiotic stewardship, digital health solutions, and patient communication.
Research interests include medical statistics, randomised trials, and primary care, with projects addressing respiratory infections, mental health, and musculoskeletal pain. Recent publications highlight her contributions to studies evaluating nasal sprays for respiratory illness, antidepressant discontinuation support, and antibiotic reduction strategies using point-of-care tests.
She is actively involved in supervising PhD students like Natalie Louise Thompson and contributes to teaching modules such as Clinical Trials (MSc in Statistics) and BM Research Project. Her current projects include the TIP trial on communication skills and the Acne Care Online initiative.
