Dr. TaeWoo Kim is a Senior Lecturer in the Marketing Discipline Group at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), part of the Business School. He holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from Indiana University Bloomington, with minors in Psychology and additional degrees in Economics and Statistics from Purdue University and the University of Iowa. His research focuses on the impact of emerging technologies on consumer decision-making, particularly AI's role in persuasion, ethics, and consumer behavior. His work is published in top-tier journals like the Journal of Marketing and Psychological Science, and featured in media such as the Wall Street Journal and CBC Radio.
Dr. Kim’s research interests span AI in marketing, consumer psychology, and decision-making processes. He explores how technologies shape consumer trust, ethical behavior, and response to marketing messages. Recent studies include AI's persuasive power, ethical implications of AI-driven decisions, and effective communication strategies involving AI. His work bridges marketing theory and practical applications of technology.
He has been recognized as a finalist for the 2023 AMA/Marketing Science Institute/H. Paul Root Award, highlighting his innovative contributions. Dr. Kim teaches courses on digital marketing, emerging technologies, consumer behavior, and entrepreneurial marketing. He actively supervises research projects such as 'AI Decision Impact in Australian Mortgage Loan Market' and 'Consumer Perception of AI-Generated Contents.'
Engaged in academic leadership, he serves on UTS’s Marketing Department Research Committee and reviews for top journals like the Journal of Marketing Research and Journal of Consumer Psychology. His media engagements include CBC Radio discussions on AI ethics and consumer behavior.
