Tadhg MacIntyre is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at Maynooth University, specializing in environmental psychology. He serves as Scientific Coordinator of GoGreenRoutes (€10.5M H2020 project) and leads GoGreenNext (€6M Horizon Europe project), focusing on urban sustainability and health through nature-based solutions. His roles include Program Lead for the MSc in Environmental Psychology and supervising four doctoral students.
Education: BA, MSc (First Class Honours), and PhD from University College Dublin (2007), supervised by Aidan Moran. Research interests span mental health, nature-based interventions, metacognition, and urban health equity.
Key achievements include co-editing the Routledge Handbook of Mental Health in Elite Sport and Physical Activity in Natural Settings. Awards include Fellow of the Association of Applied Sport Psychology and Chartered Psychologist status from the Psychological Society of Ireland.
Research projects total over €16M in funding, addressing climate impacts on urban health, digital placemaking, and environmental justice. Collaborations span 15+ institutions, including EU cities and universities in Norway, Germany, and Spain.
Teaching focuses on environmental psychology modules, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches. Advising includes supervision of interdisciplinary research projects and international conferences on sport psychology and urban sustainability.
