Sean MacIntyre is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Health at the Belfast School of Architecture and the Built Environment, Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment, Ulster University. Based at the Belfast campus (Room BC-05-102B, 2-24 York Street, BT15 1AP), he actively contributes to research on housing market dynamics and environmental health intersections in Northern Ireland.
His research focuses on integrating environmental health with spatial planning, emphasizing real estate economics, housing affordability, and the valuation of green/blue spaces in urban contexts. Key projects include Northern Ireland house price indices, private rental market performance analysis, and studies on how walkability influences property values, directly supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals for sustainable cities.
Recent publications reveal a strong interdisciplinary trend, merging environmental science with economic modeling to quantify how green infrastructure affects housing markets. This work provides critical evidence for policymakers on urban sustainability and housing equity, particularly through collaborations with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.
MacIntyre serves as Co-Investigator on the active £500k project “House Prices, Rents and Affordability” (2022-2028) funded by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and has led multiple consultancy projects for the same body since 2021. He collaborates within Ulster’s Built Environment Research group alongside McCord, Lo, and Haran, focusing on housing valuation methodologies and policy implementation.
