Tabea Söregi is a researcher at the Institute for Cultural Anthropology and European Ethnology at the University of Graz. Her work spans media use, technology, gender history, and material culture, with a focus on amateur films from the 1920s to 1990s and composting practices as cultural phenomena.
Her research scrutinizes how societal norms define garbage and order through composting ideologies, and analyzes amateur film archives for gendered representations and political contextualization. She teaches seminars like Historical Methods, aiming to introduce students to analytical techniques and interdisciplinary perspectives.
Tabea holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s in European Ethnology from the University of Vienna and previously worked at the Institute for Rural History (2021–2023). Current affiliations include the Austrian Film Archive’s Steiermark Privat Collection.
