Tommaso Ganino is an Associate Professor at the Department of Food and Drug Sciences, University of Parma, Italy. He holds a PhD in Plant Biology (2006) and a Degree in Agricultural Science (2001) from the University of Parma and Florence, respectively. His research focuses on plant physiology, anatomy, and biotechnology, particularly in fruit tree species like olive, grapevine, hop, and chestnut. Dr. Ganino has led numerous national and international projects, including studies on olive cultivation, hop biodiversity, and carbon sequestration in forests. He has supervised over 20 graduate students and 3 PhD researchers, and is a key collaborator with institutions in Colombia, Spain, and Montenegro. As head of the Plant Biology Laboratory at the University of Parma, he contributes to teaching courses in plant biology, agricultural science, and food technology.
Research interests include micropropagation, frost damage mitigation, and varietal selection. Notable collaborations include projects with CNR-IVALSA and the University of Montenegro. He has organized annual scientific meetings on olive and hop cultivation and presented invited lectures in China and Colombia.
Recent articles highlight advancements in olive oil quality, tomato irrigation systems, and IoT-driven agricultural data analysis. His work bridges plant science with sustainable agricultural practices.
