Timnea Olivia Carmen is an Associate Professor and Vice-Dean of the School of Physical Education, Sport and Kinesiotherapy at the Romanian-American University (RAU). She is a certified physician in sports medicine and family medicine (since 2020). Her career includes roles as a junior teaching assistant (1997–2000), teaching assistant (2000–2002), PhD lecturer (2003–2008), and head of PhD papers (2008–2012) at the Ecological University of Bucharest. Additionally, she serves as a Doctor of Occupational Medicine at the National Institute of Medical-Military Research and Development “Cantacuzino” (since 2014) and coordinates the vaccination center there. She has been the General Director of S.C. Chiajna Medical Center since 2009.
Her research focuses on sports medicine, including athlete health management in competitions, therapeutic protocols for sports injuries, and nutrition for athletes at both junior and senior levels (e.g., first-league football teams). She has provided medical support for over 500 athletes across disciplines like football, handball, and wrestling. She also holds roles as Vice-President of the Ilfov College of Physicians and Vice-President of the FRF Medical Commission.
Her professional activities extend to clinical practice, including primary care in family medicine and coordination of medical services for sports events and cantonments. She maintains affiliations with institutions like the “Cantacuzino” Institute and actively engages in public health initiatives through her medical center.
