Türkan Gürer is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Gaziantep University, where she has worked since 2016. Previously, she served as a Research Assistant in the Department of Biology at Gaziantep University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences (2004-2016). Her work spans molecular genetics, cancer biology, and bioinformatics, with a focus on miRNA expression in colorectal cancer. She holds a PhD (2010) and Master’s (2003) in Biology from Gaziantep University, and a Bachelor’s (2000) from Selçuk University's Department of Biology.

Grants and Projects: She has led or contributed to 18 national research projects, including studies on miRNA expression in colorectal cancer (2019-2021), TERT promoter mutations (2017-2018), and molecular taxonomy of spiders (2015-2016). Her work has been supported by institutions like Yükseköğretim Kurumları.
Labs and Collaborations: Gürer collaborates with institutions like Dokuz Eylül University and Ankara University through courses and research. She is a member of the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) and Molecular Cancer Research Association (MOKAD).
