Sylvia Carlisle

Sylvia Carlisle is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. She holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Illinois (2009) and a BA from Carleton College (2002). Her research focuses on mathematical logic, model theory for metric structures and continuous logic, and the model theory of R-trees.

Dr. Carlisle contributes to academic service by advising the Alpha Phi Omega service organization and organizing key events such as the Rose-Hulman Undergraduate Mathematics Conference and the Alfred R. Schmidt Freshman Mathematics Competition. Her teaching interests span Calculus, Differential Equations, Discrete Mathematics, Real Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Topology, and proof-based mathematics.
