Sydne Record is an Associate Professor of Landscape Conservation at the University of Maine, affiliated with the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Conservation Biology in the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture. She is also associated with the Maine Agricultural and Forest Experiment Station.
- Ph.D. in Plant Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst
- B.S. from the University of Puget Sound
Her research focuses on understanding the processes driving species distribution, abundance, and genetic/trait diversity across large landscapes and oceans. She integrates ecological theory and site-scale empirical data with quantitative analysis of regional/global ecological datasets.
She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Wildlife Population Dynamics (WLE 410/411) and occasionally General Ecology (WLE 200), dedicating 50% of her time to teaching and 50% to research.
Record’s work is supported by the Hatch project ME022425. Prior to joining UMaine in August 2022, she served as Associate Provost and Associate Professor of Quantitative Ecology at Bryn Mawr College.
