Amber Roth is an Associate Professor of Forest Wildlife Management at the University of Maine, affiliated with the School of Forest Resources and the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Conservation Biology within the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture. She is also associated with the Maine Agricultural and Forest Experiment Station. Her work balances teaching (50%) and research on forest wildlife and human-ecosystem interactions (50%).

Research Interests: Roth focuses on declining forest wildlife species, forestry practices' ecological impacts, and conservation solutions. She integrates telemetry technology for migratory species and collaborates with policymakers and landowners to improve management practices. Key projects include Golden-winged Warbler conservation, American Woodcock migration ecology, and Bicknell’s Thrush habitat studies.
Teaching & Outreach: Teaches courses like Wildlife Management in Forestry (WLE 431), Applied Forest Ecology (SFR 349), and field courses on forest inventory and wildlife surveys. Engages communities through outreach to bridge academic research and practical resource management.
Labs & Collaborations: Leads the Amber Roth Lab, mentoring graduate students and postdocs. Collaborates with agencies like the US Forest Service and state departments on conservation initiatives. Co-chairs the Golden-winged Warbler Working Group, celebrating 20 years of conservation efforts.
