Swatantra Neupane

Swatantra Neupane is a Research Fellow (mapped from Postdoctoral Fellow per extraction guidelines) in the Xu Lab at the University of Missouri, focusing on CRISPR/Cas-based gene editing techniques for Daphnia species including D. pulex and D. magna.

His educational background includes:

• Ph.D in Quantitative Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington
• B.Tech from Kathmandu University

Dr. Neupane's research spans Ecology, Evolution, Genetics and Genomics, Molecular Biology, and Quantitative and Computational Biology. He pioneered microinjection-based CRISPR/Cas9 and Cas12a delivery for ribonucleoprotein and plasmid systems, successfully generating white-eyed Daphnia mutants through Scarlet gene knockout. Current work targets knock-in techniques and development of a mutant library for functional genes including Doublesex (sex-determination), CDC20, and insulin receptor genes.

He operates under the mentorship of Dr. Sen Xu within the Xu Lab research framework at the University of Missouri.
