Sven van Teeffelen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, and Immunology at the University of Montreal’s Faculty of Medicine since 2021. He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Düsseldorf and completed postdoctoral studies at Princeton University. His research focuses on bacterial cell shape, size, and envelope integrity through interdisciplinary approaches combining physics, engineering, and molecular biology.

Research Interests: Mechanisms governing bacterial cell morphology, coordination of cell envelope growth with biomass and chromosome replication, and the role of physical forces in bacterial physiology. Techniques include high-resolution microscopy, microfluidics, and mathematical modeling.
Awards: EMBO Young Investigator Price (2019), FRQS Bourse Junior 2 (2021).
