Sven Müller-Grune

Professor Sven Müller-Grune serves as Professor of Public Economic Law at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences since winter semester 2011. He is currently a Member of the University Senate (since winter semester 2022/2023) and previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Business Law from winter semester 2014/2015 to winter semester 2022/2023.

Education:

• 1991-1998: Studied law in Jena and Granada (Spain)
• 1998: First State Examination in Law (Thuringia)
• 2001: Second State Examination in Law (Bavaria)
• 2005: Doctorate in law from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelm-Universität with dissertation on 'The principle of good faith in general administrative law'

Professor Müller-Grune specializes in public commercial law, real estate law, administrative law, and product liability and safety law. His research focuses on the intersection of commercial regulations with public administrative frameworks, particularly examining contractual issues within supply chains and the application of administrative procedural law in commercial contexts. His work bridges theoretical legal principles with practical applications in economic governance.

Throughout his academic career, Professor Müller-Grune has held significant administrative roles including Data Protection Officer (2012-2018), Dean of Studies, and Chairman of various committees. He has been instrumental in shaping the Faculty of Business Law's academic direction and quality assurance processes.

Professor Müller-Grune maintains active engagement with legal practice through his membership in professional associations and service as an external reviewer for accreditation procedures and professorship appointments. He also contributes to public policy through his membership on the Thuringian Digital Advisory Board and other governmental advisory bodies.

His teaching portfolio encompasses Public and Constitutional Law, European Union Law, General Administrative Law, Commercial Law, and specialized courses on product safety and liability. He also directs the 'SUNY Model EU' simulation program that alternates between New York and Brussels.
