Sven Meier

Dr. Sven Meier is a University Assistant (Post-Doc) at the Institute of Classical Philology, Medieval and Neo-Latin Studies within the Faculty of Philology and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna. He specializes in Early Greek Epic, Rhetorical Theory of Antiquity, and the Reception of Antiquity, with a focus on Homer, Plato, and the Artes Liberales.

• Education: Studied Classical Philology (Greek and Latin) at Philipps University of Marburg (2007–2013), completed his doctorate in 2016 on Homer’s Iliad.

Research Trends: His work bridges classical philology with rhetorical theory, Platonism, and the historical development of liberal arts education. Recent publications and lectures explore Aristotle, Syrianos, and Pythagorean symbolism in antiquity.
