Sven Horak is the Zizza Tobin Professor of Management at The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, St. John's University, specializing in Global Management, International HRM, and Leadership. His research focuses on the role of informal networks and institutions in global business contexts, particularly in South Korea and China. He holds a PhD in International Business from the University of Duisburg-Essen.
Research Interests: Informal networks, cross-cultural management, leadership ethics, MNC subsidiary management, and organizational agility. His work bridges theoretical insights with practical implications for global managers, emphasizing the ethical and strategic dimensions of informal relationships.
Recent Trends in Publications highlight his exploration of corporate scandals' impact on HR roles, the persistence of informal institutions, and the ethical challenges of social exclusion in workplaces. He also investigates how expatriates leverage hierarchical systems to enhance organizational agility in South Korean MNC subsidiaries.
Professional Activities include contributions to the Journal of Management, Academy of Management Review, and Journal of Business Ethics. He co-authored the book Informal Networks in International Business (2022) and frequently engages in public speaking on networking across cultures.
