Sven Hoekstra is an academic researcher and educator at St. Mary's University in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science Education. He holds a Ph.D. from Loughborough University (UK), an M.Sc. from Groningen University (NL), and a B.Sc. from VU University (NL). His research focuses on improving cardiometabolic health outcomes for individuals with disabilities and chronic conditions through environmental stimuli such as passive heat therapy, targeting glucose metabolism, inflammation, and vascular function.
His postdoctoral work has spanned institutions including Wakayama Medical University (Japan), Loughborough University, and the University of Texas Health Science Center.
