Prof. Dr. Sven Blankenberger is a Faculty Member at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg under the Faculty of Philosophy I and affiliated with the Department of General Psychology. His academic career spans over two decades, with a focus on auditory perception, cognitive psychology, and statistical methods in psychology.

His research explores auditory perception, particularly spatial representations of pitch (e.g., SMARC effect), cross-modal interactions (e.g., number magnitude influencing loudness judgment), and the SNARC effect in spatial-numerical associations. Collaborations include work with Katrin Bittrich on memory processes and Dirk Vorberg on statistical test selection. A key publication includes the decision tree for statistical tests in Psychologischer Rundschau (1999).
In teaching, he covers General Psychology and Cognitive Psychology in bachelor's and master's programs, co-authoring a textbook (Experimental Psychology: Planning, Implementing, and Presenting Experiments, 2011).
