Svati Hasmukh Shah is the Ursula Geller Distinguished Professor of Research in Cardiovascular Diseases and Professor of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine. She serves as the Associate Dean for Translational Research and holds secondary appointments as Professor of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics and membership in the Duke Molecular Physiology Institute and Duke Clinical Research Institute.
- Education
- Fellow in Cardiology (Duke University, 2001-2005)
- MD (University of Washington, 1998)
- MHS (Johns Hopkins University, 1994)
Her research focuses on cardiometabolic diseases, proteomic biomarkers, and machine learning applications in precision medicine. Recent work explores interorgan crosstalk in heart failure, maternal cardiovascular risks, and pharmacokinetic profiling of ketone esters.
Key trends in her publications include proteomic analysis of heart failure, genomic insights into atrial fibrillation, and biomarker discovery for diabetes complications. She has received the Ursula Geller Distinguished Professorship and leads NIH-funded projects on genetic therapies and metabolic resilience.
- Scientific Awards
- Ursula Geller Distinguished Professor of Research in Cardiovascular Diseases
Her grants span NIH CTSA funding, NHLBI projects on machine learning in genetic testing, and NYU Langone collaborations on metabolic predictors. She contributes to molecular physiology and clinical research teams at Duke.
