Svante Pääbo

Svante Pääbo is a Swedish geneticist and Nobel Laureate (2022) renowned for pioneering evolutionary genetics and ancient DNA analysis. As founding director of the Department of Genetics at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology (Leipzig, Germany) and honorary professor at Leipzig University, he has led groundbreaking research on Neanderthal and Denisovan genomes, reshaping understanding of human evolution.
