Suzanne Rushton Harper is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Miami University's College of Arts and Science. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Virginia, an M.S. in Mathematics Education from Florida State University, and a B.A. in Mathematics & Computer Science from Hollins College.
Her research focuses on technology integration in K-12 mathematics education, content knowledge development for prospective teachers, mathematical creativity, problem-solving methodologies, and geometric pedagogy. She leads NSF-funded initiatives like the Introductory Mathematics for Science Applications (IMSA) course designed to improve STEM retention.
Recent publications analyze mathematical empathy, transformational thinking through tasks, and technology's role in shaping teacher beliefs. Her work emphasizes collaborative knowledge generation and inclusive pedagogies.
