Suzanne Doppelt

Suzanne Doppelt is a Professor of Photography at The European Graduate School (EGS), renowned for her pioneering picto-literary style blending philosophical inquiry with experimental visual arts. Based in Paris, she transitioned from teaching philosophy and literature to becoming a photographer, exploring themes such as existentialism, the unconscious, and the interplay between text and image. Her work is characterized by starkly precise photographs juxtaposed with philosophical musings, often examining layers beneath surface phenomena.

She co-publishes the cultural journal Détail with poet Pierre Alféri and serves as house photographer for Vacarme. Notable exhibitions include shows at Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), NYU, and institutions in Damascus, Lyon, and the Netherlands.
