Katarzyna de Lazari-Radek is a Professor of Ethics and Philosophy at The European Graduate School (EGS) and a lecturer at the Institute of Philosophy at Lodz University, Poland. Born in 1946, she holds master’s degrees in English Literature (2000) and Philosophy (2001), and a PhD (2007) focused on Henry Sidgwick’s moral philosophy. Her research explores utilitarian ethics, bioethics, medical ethics, ethical globalization, journalism ethics, and research ethics.
She collaborates closely with Peter Singer, co-authoring works like Sidgwick and Contemporary Ethics (2013) and articles such as “Secrecy in Consequentialism” (2010). Their work defends Sidgwick’s esoteric morality and examines utilitarianism’s demands. She has also published on secular ethics, practical reason dualism, and Polish bioethics debates.
Lazari-Radek teaches summer seminars at EGS and has translated key texts like Bent Flyvbjerg’s work on Habermas. Her lectures include topics like “Aid, Charity, and Guilt” (2012) and “The Experience of Pain” (2012), reflecting her engagement with applied ethics and moral philosophy.
