Dr. Sutapa Bhattacharjee is a Researcher at the School of Geography and Planning, University of Sheffield. Her work focuses on climate and geospatial analysis, with a strong emphasis on urban and regional studies.
- Education: PhD in Civil Engineering (2024), IIT Guwahati
- M.Tech(Res) in Remote Sensing and GIS from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (ISRO)
- M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Physical Geography
Her research explores climate modelling and geospatial techniques to analyze urban heat islands, extreme weather events, and environmental impacts of urbanization. She leads climate studies in the Andes through the NERC-funded Deplete and Retreat project.
Recent publications highlight her work on Andean heatwaves, glacier mass balance, and coastal urban warming. Earlier studies focus on groundwater stress, land deformation, and flood risk in Indian cities.
