Susie Cartledge is a Senior Research Fellow at Monash University's Chronic Disease & Ageing department, with an Honorary Senior Research Fellow position at the University of Sydney. She holds dual roles as Victorian President of the Australian Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Association and a Registered Nurse at Alfred Hospital. Her research focuses on cardiovascular disease management, patient education, and improving cardiac rehabilitation outcomes through innovative strategies like mHealth and telehealth.
Education: Completed a PhD in 2018 investigating targeted basic life support training for high-risk cardiac patients. Postdoctoral work included mobile health at Deakin University and secondary prevention in regional areas at Flinders University.
Research Interests: Specializes in patient empowerment through education, resuscitation training for families, and optimizing care transitions post-hospitalization. Key projects include HeartPath+ (self-efficacy in heart disease prevention) and QUICR (quality improvement in cardiac rehab).
Grants & Projects: Lead investigator on HeartPath+ (2023-2026) and co-investigator on Aus-ROC CRE (2025-2029). Collaborates nationally on initiatives addressing rural healthcare access and cardiac arrest outcomes.
Awards: Recognized with the Alan Goble Distinguished Service Award (2022), Early Career Research Best Paper Award (2018), and dual Fellowships from the Cardiac Society of Australia and European Society of Cardiology.
