Susie Babka is an Associate Professor in Theology and Religious Studies at the University of San Diego. She holds a PhD and MA from the University of Notre Dame, an MTS from Duke University Divinity School, and dual BA degrees in Theology and Liberal Studies from Notre Dame. Her work bridges theological aesthetics, doctrines of the Trinity and Incarnation, feminist and liberation theologies, and interreligious dialogue.

Babka’s research explores the intersection of art and theology, including catastrophic suffering, science-religion dialogue, and the application of Buddhist concepts like sunyata to Christian theology. Her forthcoming monograph, Through the Dark Field of the Other, examines the Incarnation through visual art.
Her publications span topics from the Gnadenstuhl motif in Trinitarian theology to feminist interpretations of self-portraiture and Kenotic theology. She is currently pursuing a Guggenheim grant for her project on 'Multiple Belonging and Visual Culture.'
