معرفی
Susanne von Caemmerer is a Professor of Molecular Plant Physiology at the Research School of Biology, Australian National University (ANU). She holds a BA (Hons) in Pure Mathematics (1976) and a PhD in Plant Physiology (1981), both from ANU. Her research focuses on photosynthesis, stomatal function, and mathematical modeling of carbon acquisition in plants, with a special emphasis on C4 plants and improving crop yields through enhanced photosynthesis. She is a member of the Australian Academy of Science and Leopoldina (German National Academy of Sciences).
Her work includes contributions to the C4 Rice Consortium and the RIPE Project, aiming to boost food production through genetic and biochemical improvements in photosynthesis. She serves as an Associate Editor for Plant Physiology and on the editorial board of Plant, Cell and Environment.
Key research areas include heat stress responses in C4 grasses, electron transport mechanisms in chloroplasts, and plasmodesmata formation. Her recent articles explore topics such as cyclic electron flow in C4 plants, dark respiration in grasses, and novel methodologies for studying leaf cell structures.
She leads or collaborates on projects funded by the ARC Centre of Excellence for Translational Photosynthesis and international consortia, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to agricultural sustainability.
