معرفی
Dr. Florence Danila is a Research Fellow in the Division of Plant Sciences at The Australian National University (ANU). Her work focuses on understanding C4 photosynthesis mechanisms, particularly plasmodesmata formation, sugar transport pathways, and leaf anatomy in monocots. She holds a PhD from ANU (2019), a Master's from the University of the Philippines Los Banos (2013), and a Bachelor's from the University of the Philippines Diliman (2007).
- Education:
- PhD in Plant Sciences (ANU, 2019)
- MSc in Molecular Biology & Biotechnology (UP Los Banos, 2013)
- BSc in Molecular Biology & Biotechnology (UP Diliman, 2007)
Her research interests include plasmodesmata biology, C4 photosynthesis engineering, and transgenic plant development. She employs advanced microscopy and genetic tools to study metabolic pathways in plants like Setaria viridis and rice. Recent work explores environmental influences on photosynthetic efficiency and mitochondrial function in C4 leaves.
Collaborative projects include optimizing C4 traits in rice via genetic modification and investigating heat tolerance in wheat crops. She leads a research group focused on plasmodesmata formation and its implications for C4 efficiency.
Key contributions include developing promoter-TALE systems for multi-gene expression and identifying SWEET4 proteins' role in sugar transport. Her lab actively collaborates with institutions globally to advance crop science and sustainable agriculture.
