Susanne Sreedhar is a Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Boston University. She also serves as Associate Chair of the Philosophy Department. Her research focuses on early modern political thought, with notable works including Hobbes on Resistance: Defying the Leviathan (Cambridge UP, 2010) and an upcoming book Hobbes on Sex (Oxford UP, under contract). She holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2005) and a graduate degree in Women’s Studies from Duke University. Prior to BU, she was an Assistant Professor at Tulane University.
Her teaching spans ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of law, history of philosophy, and gender/sexuality studies. She maintains an active research agenda intersecting political theory, feminist philosophy, and early modern thought.
