Susanne Liese is a Researcher at the Department of Theoretical Physics II at the University of Augsburg. She holds a Diplom in Physics from the Technical University of Munich (2011) and a PhD from Freie Universität Berlin (2017). Her research focuses on statistical physics and numerical modeling applied to interdisciplinary problems at the interface of physics, biology, and chemistry, particularly multivalent ligand-receptor binding and cell compartmentalization.
She has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Oslo (2017-2020), the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden (2021-2022), and her current position at Augsburg since 2022. Her work combines experimental and computational approaches to study membrane dynamics, virus replication mechanisms, and biomaterial transport.
Recent research trends include investigations into wetting dynamics, viral replication organelle architecture, and the design of multivalent phage capsid inhibitors. These studies bridge fundamental physics principles with applied biological systems.
No scientific awards are explicitly listed. She has advised multiple PhD candidates and collaborates across institutions globally. Her research group focuses on biophysical systems with applications in virology and materials science.
