Susanne Knappe

Susanne Knappe is a Professor of Psychology at Technische Universität Dresden, holding roles as senior researcher and co-director of the Center for Preventive Intervention Studies (CEPRIS). She leads the research group on Mental Health in Children and Adolescents at the Institute of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Clinical Psychology (2010), postdoctoral qualification (2016), and appointment as extraordinary professor (2018). She also coordinates the children and adolescent outpatient center and the postgraduate CBT training program at IAP-TU Dresden GmbH.

Her research focuses on epidemiology of mental disorders, anxiety disorders, prevention programs in youth, and mental health service utilization. Key interests include diagnostic methods, psychometrics, and translational research into clinical practice. She has led studies like the EDSP longitudinal project and contributed to EU initiatives like ROAMER.

Dr. Knappe has received over 20 awards, including the Karl-und-Charlotte-Bühler-Award for teaching excellence and travel grants from DFG, NIDA, and DAAD. She serves as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Public Mental Health and on the editorial board of Suizidprophylaxe.

Her work integrates clinical research with preventive interventions, emphasizing early childhood mental health. She coordinates multidisciplinary teams at TU Dresden and collaborates internationally on child and adolescent psychotherapy standards. Current efforts focus on optimizing therapeutic adherence and validating diagnostic tools for anxiety and depression.
