Susanne Hartwig

Professor Susanne Hartwig has held the Chair of Romance Literatures and Cultures at the University of Passau since 2006. She focuses on the interplay between aesthetic texts, cultural organization, and disability representation in European theater, film, and literature of the 20th and 21st centuries. Her work bridges Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, and Crip Theory, examining how narratives shape societal perceptions of disability.

Research Focus: Hartwig leads the DFG project 'Narration, Expectation, Experience. Disability in Contemporary Theater and Film' and contributes to interdisciplinary networks like 'Comedy and Disability.'
