Sophie Jones

Sophie Jones is a Lecturer in Contemporary Literature and Gender Studies at the University of Strathclyde. She contributes to research in post-1945 American literature, reproductive justice, and the critical medical humanities. Her work intersects gender, disability, and cultural studies.

Research Interests: Sophie investigates how post-1945 American literature and film engage with bodily politics, particularly reproductive justice and the medicalisation of attention. Her forthcoming monograph, The Reproductive Politics of American Literature and Film, 1959-1973, examines how writers and filmmakers like Lorraine Hansberry and Sylvia Plath challenged norms around reproduction. Current projects, such as 'Narrating Pregnancy Sickness,' analyze nausea and vomiting of pregnancy as sites of disability construction.

Publication Trends: Sophie’s work bridges literary analysis with interdisciplinary themes in gender, disability, and health. Her recent articles focus on narrative temporality in reproductive health and the cultural politics of attention disorders.
