Emily Naser-Hall is Assistant Professor and Graduate Program Director in English Studies at Western Carolina University's College of Arts and Sciences. Her research analyzes legal-cultural narratives surrounding sexuality, domesticity, and reproduction in post-1945 American literature and film. She holds a PhD from Kentucky, JD from DePaul, MA from Northwestern, and BA from Tulane.
Publications examine Gothic representations of privacy in Jackson's works, reproductive rights discourses, and economic gender dynamics in Cold War media. Current projects investigate cinematic psychoanalysis narratives and sitcom labor politics. Teaching includes film studies, genre theory, and adaptation.
Interdisciplinary scholarship bridges legal frameworks with cultural analysis, particularly regarding bodily autonomy and intimate space. Conference presentations span law and literature intersections, including marital rape jurisprudence and Shirley Jackson's legal allegories.
